Christmas cards

Here are two cards I made for some friends as an addition to a gift.

The first one was for Michaela, a really nice person I know from the website "Musterkritzler" (german for "pattern doodlers"). She made an embroidered star for me and I sent her this:

I used the paterns Sand Swirl, Arukas and some balls I forgot to write down the name of the pattern, sorry.

The second one is for another really nice person, a colleague of mine named Sasy (that's her nichname). Every Advent we "do a secret Santa" (we call it "Wichteln" in germany" with some other friends and we send each other some secret presents in a box per snail Mail. At a declared day we come together in Skype and unwrap the presents while the others are waiting and reading what you are unpacking at the moment. It's always fun and I love it every year again!

I wrote a small card for Sasy and I used the patterns Arukas, Verdogogh and Beadle Joos.

You all may have a merry, merry christmas and a great New Year's Eve! I will take a little break in tangling and see you next year!

Love and kisses,
Joya

String Thing # 65

Here's my tile for "The String Thing # 65" , and as recommended I used these patterns:

  • Pais by Mikee Huber
  • Angel Fish by CZT Marizann van Beek and to add a grid based pattern ~
  • Tesali by Elena Hadzijaneva
I never used Pais and Tesali before, and I like how different they are. I surely will use them again :-)

Have a nice week,

Diva-challenge # 192: Seton

Here's my contribution to the challenge #192 from "The Diva". I used the patterns:

- Seton by Cris Letourneau
- ???

I love the second pattern, but I absolutely can't remember the name of this one. If anybody could tell me the name, I would be thankful :-)

Have a nice week,

Joey's challenge # 33: Mandala

This week#s challenge at madebyjoey's we had to tangle a Mandala. It's my first try to draw a Mandala and I had lots of fun while I was filling the small parts. I'll do another "Zendala" soon I guess :-)

Tangling wishes,

Kreativzeit November: Weltall

Recently I joined to a great german community named "Muster-Kritzeln, Art-Journaling und
Schrift-Bilder" and I took part to the monthly topic. This time it's "Weltall" (="space") and I tangled around with Auraknot and lots of freestyle-objects. The community isn't only for tangers, they are playing around with paper, colors, pens, different techniques and lettering. I hope to get more inspired and to be more adventurous :-)

I decided to write some posts also in german, so don't be surprised if you can't read anything ;-)

Have a creative time!

Square One: Chainging

This weeks' pattern of the week in the Facebook-group "Square One" was "Chainging/Punzel" by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. I tried it once before, but wasn't very satisfied with it. This time I tried it with some auxiliary lines, and I feel better with it. It's not like I wanted it to be, but next time I'll try again :)

I used these patterns:
- Chainging by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas
- Ing by Molly Hollibaugh
- 'Nzeppel by Maria Thomas

Have a nice time tangling!

Joey's challenge # 32: BOO

Hey everybody, here's another Hallowe'en-themed challenge by Joey from madebyjoey. We should play around with "BOO" as a string or with pattern starting with the letters or what else we wanted to). I decided to use the letters as a string and used the following patterns:

- Yuma by Tina Hunziker
- Olb by Helen Williams
- Crescent Moon by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas
- Florz by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas

Sorry for the dark picture, I ran out of good daylight today and when I use flash it doesn't look very nice because of the reflections by the pencil-shades.)

Have a great Hallowe'en!

Diva-challenge # 191

This week the Diva reminds us to vary well-known patterns and to play around with Betweed. So I made a Monotangle with this pattern (designed by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas). I especially love Betweed when it turnes out like a star, but the border I also like very much.

Tangle on!

String Thing # 64

Here's my tile for this weeks' "String Thing"-challenge on Adele Bruno's blog "Tickled to Tangle". I'm still surprised and happy that I won the "honor of the week" last week (take a look at her post here) and I'm so glad for being a part of this creative and affectionately group of tanglers!

These are the patterns I used this week:
- Owlz and
- Roxi both by Beth Snoderly
- N'Zeppel by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas

Tangle on!

Square One: Beelight

This weeks' topic in the Square One: Purely Zentangle-group on Facebook is beelight. I used these patterns:

- Beelight by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas
- Flukes by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas
- Stone Wall by Linda Rea

All three patterns were new to me and the tile reminds me on medieval castles and some "bow and arrow" :)

Have a great weekend,

String Thing # 63

This time we used in the String-Thing-challenge String 066 in honour to Adele's Grandmother Guellma Gevene and the following Q-patterns:

Quandary by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas (Zentangle)
Quare by Beth Snoderly
Quib by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas (Zentangle)
Quiltz by Kym Barlow

I tangled with Quib before, but the other patterns were new to me and I totally fell in love with "Quiltz" (the pattern in the bottom left corner and in the upper right corner). I love stars!

Keep on tangling!

- Hatchpatch by Melissa Hughes
- Hekzee by Carole Ohl
- Hepmee by Carole Ohl

Keep on tangling!

Diva-challenge # 190

This challenge from the Diva is special to me. She made this challenge in honour of her grandmother who passed away from complications due to Breast Cancer. So we had to tangle something with pink for her grandmother or for an other person we know whose lives have been touched by Breast Cancer. In my case I tangled for my Mom because she got Breast Cancer last spring-time. She recovered very well and the whole family is happy about that. I'm proud to have such a strong Mom and I love her so much, so I tangled only heart-based patterns :-)

These are the patterns I used:

- Heartbox,
- Heart S (no kick),
- Heartline,
- Heartstrings, all by Helen Williams
- Heartvine by Lori Howe

Stay healthy, fit and creative!

Diva # 189 and SquareOne: Aquafleur

Again I don't have much time and so I combined again two challenges. The challenge in the Facebook-group "Square One" (topic of the week: Aquafleur) and the challenge from the Diva #189 (topic: UMT Yuma).

So these are the patterns I used in this tile:
- Aquafleur by Zentangle
- Yuma by Tina Hunziker
- River by Suzanne McNeill

Go on tangling!

String Thing # 62: Uncorked

This is my tile for Adele Bruno's challenge "It's a String Thing #62". We had to use String 062 and the pattern "Uncorked". I never tangled it before, and I'm not really satisfied with this tile. It's dark and agitated... next time I'll try again :-)

I used these patterns:
- Uncorked by Adele Bruno
- Meer by Zentangle
- Fescu by Zentangle

Have a nice weekend!

Joey's challenge # 30: Thanksgiving in Canada

Hello everybody, today is Thanksgiving in Canada, and Joey started a suitable challenge for this date. We have to use the following paterns:

Trivet by Nancy Newlin
Half Onions by Livia Chua
Allium by JJ LaBarbera
Nvelope by Alyss Amster
Kuke by Katy Abbott
Sunflower by Anne Marks

I chose a pumpkin-formed string and filled it with the patterns. It was really fun to make this one, even if it's more ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art) than original Zentangle :-)

Love,
Joya

Square One: Fengle

This week, the Facebookgroup "Square One" challenged us to tangle some Fengle :-) I made two totally different tiles with Fengle.

No. 1:

The patterns I used are:
- Fengle (of course) by Zentangle
- Brayd by Zentangle
- Yuma by Tina Hunziker
and a frame without pattern.

No. 2:

It seems to have some silvery glitter, but that's because I used a flashlight to fotograph it. I shades with a common pencil and I like it much better in real without the silver highlights ;-)
I used these patterns:
- Fengle by Zentangle
- Meer by Zentangle
- Ixorus also by Zentangle
and some points without pattern.

Have a great week and tangle on!

Tackle it Tuesday: SUN

It's Tackle it Tuesday-time and this week we "will be tangling S U N, with a twist" and we use the following patterns:

- Sez by zentangle
- Up and Across by Suzanne McNeil
- Nymph by Melinda Barlow

As String I used a sun, too and I tried to tangle a bit more free and less planned. I'm still learning :-)

Have a great time tangling!

Joey's challenge # 29

Joey's challenge suggested us to use String 010 and our favorite "O"-Tanglepatterns. I chose

- O by Damy
- Opus with an aura by Zentangle

and some simple stripes. "O" was really challenging for me, I couldn't tangle it symmetrically. I have to practice it I guess :-)

Tangle on!

String Thing # 61

This week Adele with "The String Thing-challenge" suggested the String #060 and the following patterns:

- Moonpie by CZT Joan Delony
- Aquafleur by Maria Thomas
- River by CZT Suzanne McNeill
- Gutz by Patricia Cosiano

And again some new patterns for me, I enjoyed River a lot :-)

Diva-challenge # 188: National Coming Out Day

This week the Diva has a special challenge for us. On October 11th the US celebrates the National Coming Out Day and in honour to a 12-years-old boy who wants to support his gay friend we are supposed to tangle something about the LGBT-theme (Lesbians, Gays, Bi-sexual and Transgender) in rainbow-colors or with LGBT as a string. I chose the string-variation and the following patterns:

- Agua by Christina Vandervlist
- Angel Fish by Marizaan van Beek
- Baton by Carola Ohl
- Ing by Molly Hollybaugh

and a rainbow-banner around the letters.

Tackle it Tuesday: Septem B E R

Cheryl from Artful Creations (with the Tackle it Tuesday-challenge) wrote in her actual challenge:

"...you know there are no mistakes in zentangle. It is supposed to be and R."

This is exactly what I have to learn about tangling. I tried some new elements for the corners and I didn't like it. I wanted to erase it (even though I know I couldn't because I used a permanent pen ;-) ), but then I decided to try something different and I painted the background whole black. I never did this before and I think, I like it better than the abortive thingys before :-)

I used the patterns:
- Brayd by Michele Beauch
- Exis by Jennifer Hohensteiner
- Roscoe by Vicki Bassett

Xeni by Jacqueline Janssen

All patterns are new to me and I fell in love with Xplode ♥

Have nice time an tangle on!

Diva-Challenge # 187:Blind String / Square One: Pendrills

Because I had not so much time I cimbined two challenges in one tile. I made a blind string (with a eyes closed) for the Diva-challenge #187:

And I added the wekly pattern for the "String One"-group on Facebook: Pendrills.

These are the patterns I used:
- Pendrills by Zentangle
- Sand Swirl by Karry Heun
- Striping by Zentangle with sparkle
- Bilt by Lisa Skeen
- Paradox by Zentangle
- Cockles 'n Mussels by Margaret Bremner
- Hurray! by Agneta Landegren
- Mac Dee by Anneke van Dam

I don't like the black pearls with Pendrills, but I love to tangle with Sand Swirl and Mac Dee ♥

Have agreat weekend!

Joey's challenge # 28: Knyt

Here's my tile for Joey's challenge #28. I used the patterns "Knyt" by Helen Williams and "Featherfall" by Carola Ohl. I never used these patterns and I'm noct very satsfied with both. I added some color to make Knyt brighter. Perhaps I have to get a bit more free in using them, I followed the instructions very straight. The next time I use them I will try some new directions :-)

Have a nice weekend!

Diva-Challenge # 185

This challenge from The Diva made me really happy. I like the autumn and the coloured leaves :-) There were no directions which patterns we have to use, and I chose patterns which start with the letters F, A, L and L (for fall indeed ;-). These are the patterns:

- Finery by Zentangle
- Afterglo by Carole Ohl
- LG by Adele Bruno
- Lacy by Sandtra Strait

I also made a picture before shading:

It's interesting so see how different the tiles are before and after shading :-)

Have a great time and tangle on!

String Thing # 59

This week Adele Bruno from "It's a String Thing" suggested us to use a string created by Adele herself in honour to the pattern "Oke" by Michele Beauch. Beside this pattern we also had to use "Meringue" by Kelley Kelly, and this is what I tangled with them:

Meringue was really challenging to me, I like squared and straight patterns more, but I will use it once more with no outlines, just to check if that was the hitch with it.

Have great time tangling!

Joey's challenge # 27: Cayke

Here's my Tangle for Joey's challenge #27. We had to use the String #012 and the pattern "Cayke" by Rose Brown. Here's the list of the patterns I used:
- Bublz by Lori Byerly
- Cayke by Rose Brown
- Mooka by Zentangle
- Ruf-l by Millie Galliher
- Trivolution by Sandra Chatelain
- Zenplosion by Danni O'Brien

I really had no plan how to fill this string and which patterns I want to use, I just started with Cayke and tangled on. I also can't decide which direction my tile should have, this one or perhaps another perspective? It's not important, I like it anyway ;-)

Tackle It Tuesday: New Series, S E P tember

The Artful Creations-Blog starts a new serie with "Tackle It Tuesday". This time we had to use patterns that start with S, E and/or P. I chose the following patterns:

- Shauna by Kathy Barringer
- Efeu by rhapsody
- Prestwood by Margaret Bremner

At first I tried to tangle Shauna behind Efeu, but than Efeu wasn't visible any longer and I tried some color. I wasn't very satisfied with this tile, so I drew the second one you can see  on the top of this post. This tile makes me more happy :-)

This is the first tile which is a bit unpicturesque in my opinion:

String Thing # 58

"It's a String Thing #58" ordered to use String 058 and the following patterns:

Gingham by Margaret Bremner, CZT
Girdy by Karl Stewart
Gothic by Mariet Lustenhouwer
Girlande by Simone Bischoff

I knew Gingham and Gothic before, but Girdy and Girlande were new to me, and so I concentrated to these two patterns. At first I drew Girlande, but when I added Girdy the Girlande got almost unvisible, so I colored it.

Now I can't decide which picture I like more, with or without color:

I enjoyed to discover these new patterns, so thank you Adele for this nice challenge! :-)

Diva-challenge # 185

The Diva-challenge of this week asks us to do a Duo Tangle with Phicops and Diva-Dance. Both patterns are new to me and I enjoyed to tangle around with them. At first I found it too empty, so I added here and there some pieces until it was full :-)

Yeah, I know, I'm late for this great "TACKLE IT TUESDAY"-challenge on the "Artful Creations"-blog, but I wanted to show it anyway.

I used the following patterns:
Zanholli by Molossus,
Zenplosion Folds by Danni O'Brien,
Zonked by Barbara Finwall.
Zuan Shi by JJ La Barbera,

and the String #024. I fell in love with the Zenplosion Foldss and Zuan Shi, they are so recreative :-)

Joey's challenge # 26 Oke

This weeks' challenge at "made by Joey" was to use the patern "Oke" by Michele Beauch and an acorn shaped string. I also used the patterns "Organza" by Ruth Howell, "Navaho" by Karen Mlot and "Btl Joos" by Sandy B. The Oke needed to be highlighted, so I added some green to it.

I'm not very happy with this tile, but I learned some new (to me) patterns, and that's fine :-)

Joey's challenge # 25 Leaflet

This week Joey's challenge was to use the pattern "Leaflet" by Helen Williams. My first thought about Leaflet was something organic and I started with a kind of hedge with some "flowers" are growing from it. Thank you Joey for this challenge, I'm always learning from them :-)

Tuesday is "String Thing"-day, and this time we used the string #056 with the patterns

Drip Drop by CZT Debbie Perdue
Dekore by Kari Shultz
Dust Bunny by CZT Margaret Bremner
Drupe by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts

This weird string made me going crazy to copy it to my tile, but while tangling I got more and more pleasant with it. Thank you Adele Bruno for this great challenge!

Tagh by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas
Telis by Chrissie Frampton
Ticking by JJ La Barbera
Trivet by CZT Nancy Newlin
Twile by Lesley Scott-Gillilan

It was really funny to fill this string!
