Tackle it Tuesday: Y

Today I found a new challenge on the "Artful Creations"-Blog named "Tackle it Tuesday". This week the challenge was to use patterns which start with the letter "y". I chose the following patterns:

- "Y-flip" by Helen Williams
- "Yale", "Yoga" and "Yabbut" by Margarte Bremner

I never used these patterns before and I fell in love with the y-flip. I adore patterns which seem to be threedimensional.

Have a great time and tangle on!

Square One: Auraknots

There's a fantastic group on Facebook named "Square One: Purely Zentangle®" which is an open group to bring us back to the beginning of the pure Zentangle, without any color or something else. Just the pen, a tile of paper, the patterns und your inspiration.

This is my first contribution to this group and my first time drawing the auraknot. I like this pattern really much :-) The other patterns I used are: Printemps, Fescu and Pokeleaf.

I can't resist, so I made a second one a few hours later:

The two other patterns are Beadle Joos and Angel-Fish.

One Zentangle a day: Day 4

Two days ago I finished the fourth day of my "1x täglich Zentangle"-book. As the days before I learned three new patterns and I had to make a Zentangle which includes the three new paterns and if I want some of the patterns I learned the other days before. Here I used Shattuck, Jonqual, Nipa, Hollibaugh and Crescent Moon.

I like the book very well, I'm learning the 101 of tangling and how to draw pretty nice new patterns and effects, I'm a happy camper with that :-)

Have a great weekend and tangle on!

String Thing # 55

This weeks "String Thing"-Challenge was a real challenge for me. I love the string we used (String #055), but I never used "Striped" or the Tangle-enhancer "Sparkle" before. This is what I tangled:

I'm not really satisfied with the sparkle-part, it didn't came out like I wanted it to. But that's ok, if you are planning a Zentangle too much it's not a Zentangle any more, it's called ZIA (Zentangle Inspired Art). I will try the sparkle in another pattern in the next time and see how I can make it look more threedimensional :-)

One Zentangle a day: Day 3

I said, I don't have time to do a tangle every day. Well, all I can say is that I got addicted to Zentangle and I had time to do another tile today ;-)
It's the third page of my journal for the german version of "One Zentangle a day" and this time I tried to connect the different patterns and I'm a happy camper with this one :-)

I also treid out a new font for my initials and I'm happy with it now. To make a long story short: It was a happy tangle-day for me :-)

Sleep well and tangle on!

Diva-Challenge # 182 - Stripes

Horizontal, vertical, diagonal, crossway... this weeks' Diva-Challenge is about stripes. I tried some patterns I never used before:

All about "V" by Ksenija Vojisavljevic
Annee by Sandy Steen Bartholomew
Punzel by Zentangle
Entwine by Molossus
Yuan by Margaret Bremner

I have to train Punzel (Chainging), but it was a lot of fun tangling around with new patterns :-)

One Zentangle a day: Day 2

I told you about the new book I bought to practice Zentangle patterns. Today I made the second chapter and tried out the three new patterns. Then I tangled with the patterns of the last chapter and the three new patterns and tried a free string which came out of my mind. It's still hard for me to connect the patterns, so I separated them.

Have a nice time and tangle on!

New header

At first I just wanted to practice the pattern "Paradox", but then I thought it was time for a tangly header. So I placed it with the lettering on the top of my blog :-)

String Thing # 54

At first I'd like to say THANK YOU for the many nice and kind comments on my last tangle. I didn't like it, but you all are right, I had a lot of fun to do it so it's ok like it is :-)

This time I came back to my favourite colors, here they are:

I think it's obvious I like the color red, isn't it? ;-) This week the challenge of "It's a String Thing" was to use the string #52 and the following paterns:

Bilt by Lisa Skeen, CZT
Rick's Paradox by Rick Roberts
Bitten by Carole Ohl, CZT
Rosewood by Sandra Strait

You know I'm still a beginner and I had my difficulties with Paradox and Rosewood because of the straight lines, but it's the first tie I drew them and I think, it turned out well.

I'm curious for the next challenge.

One Zentangle a day: Day 1

I bought a great book in german about tangling which called 1 x täglich Zentangle: Die 6-Wochen-Kur für kreatives Zeichnen by Beckah Krahula. It's also available in english: (One Zentangle a day: A 6-week course in creative drawing for relaxation, inspiration, and fun).
The book starts with tipps and hints for tangling-supplies, eleven rules for tangling and first steps as seen on the foto. I tried out the presented patterns and then I had to tangle around with them.
I hope to learn more about patterns, strings, using spaces and layouts and just to have fun with Zentangle :-) I won't do this every day in the suggested 6 weeks but every now and then I have time I will do the next step.

Have a nice time and tangle on!

Diva-Challenge # 181 - Water

This weeks' Diva's challenge is about "water". I wanted to make a coloured background for my first time and I made it with a blue and a teal ink-pad. I didn't know how the patterns would affect on such a turbulent background. Some parts I coloured with a brown pencil.

I don't like this tile very much. I think it's too agitated. Perhaps I'll try it next time with a smoother background, but I still prefer a black and white tile with some coloured highlights :-)

These are the patterns I used:
Drip-Drop by Debbie Perdue
Sand Swirl by Karry Heun
SeZ by Zentangle
Shiraz by Linda Farmer

Have a good time and tangle on!

String Thing # 53

This week Adele Bruno from "Tickled To Tangle" starts her second year with "It's a String Thing". We had to use the TanglePatterns String 054 by Hope Martin and one or more of the following patterns:

Hurray! by Agneta Landegren,
Onomato by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts,
Planateen by Sandra Strait and
Pokeleaf by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts

Because I'm still a beginner I chose all of them, I didn't use them before. I also decided to use another color than before to highlight some parts of the tile. During the tangling I started laughing - I discovered some smiling frogs on my tile. Take a closer look:

Thank you Adele for the challenge, I had a lot of fun with it.

Keep on tangling!

Diva-Challenge # 180

Hey everybody, this is my contribution to the new weekly "Diva's challenge #180". Every first Monday of a month is calles "Use My Tangle" (UMT), and this time we had to use "MacDee" from the wonderful artist Anneke Van Dam.

The straight lines are hard to do for me, I'm not really exact in drawing straight lines. But I had a lot of fun to do them, and tried to draw a banner for the first time. Next time I wouldn't draw the thick lines with a thick pen but with the thin pen, I think that will be much nicer.

Have a good time and tangle on!

Bookmark

Today I finished my bookmark I started a few days ago. The strings I used are my initials in an old german font named "Sütterlin". On the top it's a capital "S" and on the bottom a capital "H". I used different patterns, I hope I can remember all of them :-)

Basket Weave by Cookie
Btl Joos (variation) by Sandy B.
Ciceron by Mariet Lustenhouwer
Cockles 'n Mossels (variation) by Margaret Bremner
Cubine by Zentangle
Eylet + Ribbon by Lori Howe
Jetties by Sandy B.
Printemps by Zentangle
Shattuck by Zentangle

I will laminate it and use it for reading :-)

String Thing # 52: Happy Birthday!

Yay, the "String Thing" at the "Tickled To Tangle"-Blog has its birthday and the pattern we had to use for the actual challenge was the official Tangle pattern string #52 and this patterns to fill it:

Meringue by CZT Kelley Kelly
A-Fog by Kathy Redmond
Roscoe by Vicki Bassett
Kitl by Jem Miller AKA Ragged Ray
Lotus Pods by CZT Margaret Bremner

I used all of them and I had a lot of fun tangling around :-)

Have a nice time and tangle on!

String Thing # 51

Last weekend I discovered the wonderful blog "Tickled to Tangle" from Adele Bruno (CZT). She also makes challenges for Tanglers and becuase I need to practice my tnagling-skills I made a tile for the last weeks challenge:

I used the Tangle String #51 and the patterns

Facet by Nancy Pine, CZT
Fancy Nancy by Adele Bruno, CZT
Falz by Sue Clark, CZT and
Fandango by Vicki Bassett

as offered by Adele Bruno in the challenge. Perhaps I can make the actual challenge tomorrow.

My Signature with my initials isn't elaborated yet, but I like it better than the digital "Joya"-sign I used on the other tiles before.

Have a nice time and tangle on,

Diva-Challenge # 179 - make it like Bijou

This tile I made for the weekly Diva's challenge #179 "make it like Bijou". We had to use small tiles in 2"x2" and I used it for a pattern I didn't use before. It is called "cockles'n'mussels", designed by Margaret Bremner. I thought the whole tile with this pattern would be too much, so I added some simple stripes and shaded them. Perhaps I'll do another tile for this challenge, but I'm really busy this week, so I don't know if I got time for that.

Have a nice time and tangle on,

Welcome and Diva Challenge # 178

Hey guys, welcome to my brandnew blog. I'm also brandnew to Zentangle and tangling, I got to know it just two weeks ago on pinterest. On my other blog "Joya sieht rot" I challenged myself to post each day a foto with a red eye-catcher and last week I posted my very first Zentangle with a red band in it for the Diva's challenge #178:

Because I got very nice and kind comments on this post and because the rest of "Joya sieht rot" is in german (not very interesting for english-speaking readers) I decided to open a new blog for my tangles and stuff like this. Another point is to improve my english-skills, I hope you can understand my posts. If I make some really bad mistakes, please feel free to correct me :-)

Now I'm waiting for the next challenge to release.

Have a good time and keep on tangling!
